Android NVIDIA Shield TV Pro (2019 new model)
Hello, is there a way to force the SHIELD TV to output display :

1920x1080, YUV 4:4:4  10bit  Rec709 ??  (yes this can pass in HDMI, i did it with a laptop + hdmi 2.0b)

Why this question ?

Because i'm using a projector with native panel 10bit and i check with a computer... the best result is with settings. (for 1080p 10bit video)

I don't want 12bit.

i know this question is more about the shield than kodi...but i'm looking for a good skills about it Smile

Not at home right now, but I believe in Shield/Options/Display settings. You can find additional display options, where you can see and force all available combinations of resolution/refresh rate/color space.
If you are lucky, you will find the one you are looking for :-)

1920x1080, YUV 4:4:4  10bit  Rec709  doesn't exist on the shield display settings... i don't understand why ;-(

it's only 8bit or 12 bit... but no 10 bit

What's the issue with 12-bit vs 10-bit vs 8-bit?  What >8-bit HD SDR content are you playing?  If you do have a source of 10-bit HD SDR content - what's the issue with padding it to 12-bit with 00LSBs?

don't have the upsampling on native  10bit panel... to avoid whatever sort of flickering, dithering...  i know it can be a weird saubject for people not sensitive...

What 10-bit content are you playing?  10 to 12-bit upsampling on most players is just padding, not dithering, isn't it - the dithering is usually reserved for 10-bit to 8-bit downsampling to mitigate quantisation banding?

(I have a native 10-bit panel in my Sony UHD HDR FALD TV, it doesn't use FRC.  I've not noticed anything particularly unpleasant when playing native 10-bit HD h.265 Rec 709 SDR content I've mastered myself from 4:2:2 10-bit AVCi100 masters, when played via a 4:2:2 12-bit HDMI connection, though I use my Shield TV less and less these days)

Hello i use 1080p REC 709 HEVC 10 bit  and i  test 8bit, 12 bit  on shield...  (on 8 bit i feel more confortable than in 12 bit .. but issue with pixel in dark part... (normal 10 > 8 bit)

on my computer as source in 10 bit Ycbcr  (also i use ditherig)  i feel really more confortable. (on projector epson TW9400)

so i don't know... and i can assume it's psychologic....  but i really don't understand why the shield don't use 10 bit in 1080p .

The amazon fire cube tv 3rd gen can use the 1080P 10 bit rec 709 ycbcr for example.

So it's just a limit of shield tv and i'm sure there way to unlock it.

So at the moment i prefer to use my computer ..and maybe i will sell the shield tv pro 2019

Any of you guys using Kodi 20 having trouble scanning & adding content from your network mounted shares (which you mounted under Storage in Shield's settings)? It has been working perfectly for me with 19, but with 20, while I can see the shares under Files, when I Set Content (say Movies) and scan, it doesn't pick up any of the movies.

I'm having to use regular ol' SMB adding method instead by going to Add Videos > Add Network Share and typing in the NAS IP and credentials.

Im using Kodi 20 RC2 on my Shield Pro, no problems adding mediashares, mine is still on 8.2.3.

I have 3 Nvidia Shield Pro 2019s and two Windows PCs.  All are running Kodi 20 RC2 with Shield Experience 9.1.1 on the Shields.  No problems adding content.

Hmm, I am using the Maven fork. Wonder if the issue is there. Thanks.

Issue: Maven build of nexus-rc2 sometimes crashes, when opening the next episode in the playlist.

Anyone met the same problem?

Device: Shield TV 2019 Pro
OS: Shield Experience 9.1.1
Kodi: net.kodinerds.maven.kodi20.arm64-v8a-202301120237-9487a16d-Nexus.apk

This seems more a question for the Kodinerds forum, as this build is not from TeamKodi.

Kodinerds is able to decode DV on Shield, I was hoping NExus will be able, without custom build.
How come Kodi by itself is struggling with DV content ?

Not struggling - it's been added to v21.
