While playing a video if you go to settings => video settings it will show what resolution it's currently using. Previously TV series were playable in 1080p, after the changes early this year nothing will play if it's 720p and up. So, for example, while before I could watch an anime in FHD, it now plays at 960x540 which is quite smaller than 720p. It still looks decent, I still use it on a FHD TV without any problems, but if you know and actually care for that sort of things, it can turn you insane.
I've got another 4k TV with Tizen and Amazon app in it, trust me, the difference is astounding. But I make do with what I have, don't care too much if it's a bit lower res. Generally speaking, unless you're sitting on a desk, watching from the couch makes almost no difference.
