Ripping CD stops before completing
#1
I've just installed Kodi as an alternative to Windows Media Player (since Microsoft in the (lack of) wisdom closed down the metadata service for ripping CDs).

While Kodi is working and ripping CDs, including getting the metadata, it stops ripping before the CD is completed. The number of tracks varies between CDs. I had no problems ripping CDs completely with WMP, barring the lack of metadata, so shouldn't be a hardware issue.

I'm ripping to WMA format on a Windows 7 laptop, saving on a network drive.

Of course, I should have said, I'd like help to diagnose why it stops ripping before the CD has been completely ripped!

I would recommend that you don't use Kodi as a ripper, yes it can read CDs but as a ripper it is very basic, possibly flawed in some way and there are just much better free tools you can use.

On Windows I use Exact Audio Copy http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/ to rip the CD to FLAC files, it even has Accurip checks that your rip is accurate compared to those made by other users. EAC does basic tagging too, but then I use Musicbrainz Picard https://picard.musicbrainz.org/ and/or Mp3Tag https://www.mp3tag.de/en/ to do full tagging.  See https://kodi.wiki/view/Music_tagging for more information on tagging, from which Kodi can offer a rich music library experience.
