refresh rate to 50 hz for 25 hz videos
#1
Hi all,
my system:
win 10 64 bit
8 gb ram
gpu: amd hd 7800
amd driver: 20.3.1
cpu: CPU - Intel® Core™ i3-4130 CPU  - @ 3.40GHz

I have a problem with the auto refresh rate for 25 hz videos.

In windows settings my lg tv (connected via hdmi) has full hd 60hz as default and is an extended display.

If I play a 23,976 hz video, the refresh rate jumps to 23,976 and the video is smooth.

But if I play a 25 hz video, the refresh rate stays doesn`t change.
so if I start kodi and first start a 25 hz video, the rate is 60 hz and the video stutters.
If I play a 23,976 video, the rate switches to 23,976,  and if I switch then directly to a 25 hz video, the rate stays at 23,976 and doesn`t change to 50hz. So the video stutters, too.

My settings in kodi (18.6 GIT:20200229-8e967df921)are:

Player -> Videos ->
Adjust display refresh rate: on start / stop
Sync Playback: off

Render method: auto detect
Allow hardware acceleration: on

System->Display
display mode: Full Screen
use fullscreen window: on
delay after change refresh rate: 0,5 s

Does anybody know what is wrong here and can help me?
Thanks a lot.

If you Whitelist 50hz it should switch, see https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?pid...pid2734867

Ok, thanks.
I switched on all resolutions for full hd in the whitelist and the refresh rate works now for 23,976 and 25.
Great =)

But in the whitelist the 50hz is missing. In the display settings of windows I can switch to full hd 50 hz for this display. But why is it not listed in the whitelist? So what happens now, if I want to see a 50hz video?

Which resolution are you using 1080p? I would usually expect 50/60hz to be listed but I suppose it's dependent on your hardware. If you post a log file it should show us which display options are available to you.

Ok, can you please tell me, where I can find the logfile?
And yes, I use 1080p. But 50 hz is not listed. But in display settings of windos I can switch to 1080p 50hz. And the tv supports it.

Yes sorry, this should help https://kodi.wiki/view/Log_file

For Windows the file should be in %APPDATA%\Kodi\userdata, then just paste into a site like http://paste.kodi.tv/ or https://paste.ubuntu.com & post a link in here.

Ok, I started kodi, pressed ctrl, shift, d for debug mode.
In the left top corner the code appeared.
Then I went to system settings into the whitelist and scrolled a litte bit and pressed cancel.
But the logfile hasn`t been created.
I searched in the installationfolder and  in its userdata folder. And in /user/appdata/roaming/kodi/userdata

Nothing to find there

Do you have the files hidden in Windows? The log will always be created in C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\Userdata unless you're using the Windows Store version, in which case I think it's placed elsewhere.

The other option is to use the logfile uploader https://kodi.tv/addon/program-add-ons-sc...e-uploader
