YouTube Plug-in Thread
I've updated post #2 with 6.5.0~alpha2
Code:
[add] Uploads playlist to channel playlists
[chg] Use search for channel videos instead of the Uploads playlist

@plupien79 Will need a complete debug log (wiki) reproducing the issue to hopefully see what it happening.

Hello!

Recently, I think it's a 3-4 days span I've notice that some videos inside my kodi do not play.
They are all from the same channel. You press play, it does its thing to load but then goes back to the video selection screen.

I did check on youtube and they work fine.
I even tried to do unsub and resub, but nothing.

So far it's just one of the channels I follow that give me that problem, any idea what might be the cause?

Kodi is 18.2
And I think I've left the plugins to auto update themself, but never had this sort of issue before.
@ExGemini
Without a debug log (wiki), I can only guess.
If you're using InputStream Adaptive 2.3.19 then it should be resolved by updating to InputStream Adaptive 2.3.21--might be a while for it to be available from the repository--, or by installing the latest alpha version of the YouTube add-on.

I can confirm that I'm on InputStream Adaptive 2.3.20 (no .21)

^^ This is the log file.
I did a selective bug thingy for video and audio only.
Started Kodi, went to youtube addon (6.4.1) and tried to launch one of the video of the channel that seems not to work anymore.

I hope it helps Smile
@ExGemini
By the logs it appears to be the same issue, so either suggestion should resolve the issue for you.
If v2.3.21 is still not available from updates, you should be able to get the zip from https://ba.mirror.garr.it/mirrors/xbmc/a...ws-x86_64/ and install from zip

Happy to report that updating the inputstream.adaptive mumbo jumbo with the .21 version solved the issue.
Thank you sir!
Hi,
Since few months when I select youtube I can't select the best quality generally

exemple
black pink bombaya
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwmSjveL3Lc

On youtube web site I see
  • 1080p
  • 720p
  • 480p
  • 360p
  • 240p
  • 144p

with youtube plugin
  • 360p
  • 240p
  • 144p

I use kodi v18 installed by OSMC on raspberry pie 2

Thanks
@"gg31000"
For >720p –and in some cases >360p– you need InputStream Adaptive installed and enabled –Add-ons -> My Add-ons -> VideoPlayer InputStream–, and in the YouTube add-ons settings enable MPEG-DASH -> Use MPEG-DASH and MPEG-DASH -> Use for videos. The quality will then be based on your InputStream Adaptive settings.
The current in-development version of the YouTube add-on changes this behavior and adds a quality selector to MPEG-DASH -> Use for videos -> Video quality
Will need a complete debug log (wiki) if you feel something is not working

@WeirdH The changes required to add the video quality setting also work around the issue you reported.
...
Cool, thanks! Will check it out. I noticed my inputstream also updated to .21, so I'm curious to see what improvement I notice.

EDIT: All seems well so far. Awesome (continued) work, it's much appreciated.

EDIT 2: Not all is well. With mpeg-dash enabled, some videos play at 368p if my setting in the mpeg tab is set to 720p (the 'video quality' one under 'use for videos', 'include VP9.2' and 'limit to 30fps').

When I set this to 1080p however, the offending videos DO play in 1080p. Disabling mpeg-dash also removes any 368p issues.

This video is one example.

Any ideas? Debug log needed?
Suddenly nothing is playing in my Youtube in Kodi anymore? Was working perfectly previously.

This is what happens when I try to play anything:

My Kodi has been running for days and so the debug log is massive. I didn't think anything but the YouTube error would be relevant?

Reboot, turn-on debug logging, replicate issue, upload full debug log
Mine has just stopped playing any YouTube videos today as well. It's been working fine until now.

Full log is here:

Can anyone see the issue?

Unfortunately just the error message might not be enough, as the problem might be related to the hardware you use or the operating system.
The full log also shows the Kodi version and the plugin version, if you are using older versions it would be a waste of time to try to debug problems that might be fixed in newer versions already.
And there are a lot more information in the log that might be related sush as something indirectly caused the error like another plugin.

Basically the more information available the better/faster support can be provided, and the full debug log has most of the info.

It is also a good practice to read the first and last couple of pages of a support thread as that should give you an idea what problems other users have reported and have solved.
