YouTube Plug-in Thread
Hi all,

I recently finally got a working CrystalHD card for the ATV1 and found it wasn't supported in the newest version of osmc and went back to the last supported version which is KODI 16.1.  Now the card is working and does well with Popcornflix movies, however youtube isn't working well sadly and the MPEG-Dash section is greyed out with no option to install inputstream and also no inputstream to be found on the system or in the repo.  Might anyone have a solution?

A good day to all,
Johnny.
Which version of Kodi are you using when you're looking for Inputstream? It's not available for 16.x.

Support for it only started with Krypton (17.x) and was improved in Leia (18.x).

 It's better to go with kodi 18 it's the latest version..otherwise try to install it through zip!
@Spiderfish Not that I'm aware of. And neither do the settings suggest that would be possible. I think you're better of finding out why your internet speed is varying, and then fixing it.

EDIT: Forget this below. You wrote that you have no access to InputStream Adaptive. Maybe you can compile it yourself from here : https://github.com/peak3d/inputstream.adaptive.
  Yoh, Johnny Bravo! Smile If you have the addon, have you enabled My add-ons >> VideoPlayer InputStream >> InputStream Adaptive ?
Don't know if Kodi 16 is playing nice with mpeg-dash though.
I'm working to resurrect the randomtrailers plugin. A lot of the trailers (at least for old movies) originating from Youtube are of less than stellar quality and origin. In particular, the volume jumps from shouting to whispering from one trailer to the next. For local trailers I am experimenting, with good results, with using ffmpeg "compand" or "loudnorm". It would be great if I could get the Youtube download process to run ffmpeg with my options, or provide a hook where I can have this done. Is there already some means for me to do this?

Thanks

Frank

That looks like something that would be better suited to a separate add-on, but will keep it in mind.

@Spiderfish
A complete debug log (wiki) might help show the issue.
 Oh... also a great idea. Quote or call me when you have somethings to test on road Smile

are there plans to implement the possibility to play only audio for live streams? I would like to play streams like that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHW1oY26kxQ but with kodi visualisations.

thanks!
I came back to your request and today during troubleshooting my issue I got something will help you with your request, go to settings/general and chose Always ask for the video quality and enable it then every video will ask you for quality and you can choose only audio for what video you want! I think it's fair enough for you  Wink
Hi,
thanks for the hint. I checked that. It is working but the live stream (re)loads every 5 seconds so it isn't very practical.
Hi.
Is there any way to organize my suscribed channels in categories or folders?
Or, If I have several accounts of Youtube, Is it possible to create shortcuts for each one of their suscrioptions feed?

Thx
Can you put "NOW LIVE" videos of subscriptions stand out on top when going into "My Subscriptions"?

 I noticed there is note in MPEG-DASH settings is elated to proxy "Proxy is required for mpeg-dash vods (see HTTP server)" but I am not using proxy in my box! is this related to my issue?
You are making things more complicated than they are. You never mentioned paying for a movie/video, or that the movie/video was ad supported. And that when trying to start such a movie/video, that an error message was being displayed saying that the proxy is not running. And that as a result of this, the video refused to play. So if this did not happen, you were not trying to playback YT VOD, and you therefore do not need a proxy.
If you were playing media from YT Movies (and possibly from the other two services below; I don't know for sure) you will need the proxy server. If you did not, you also do not need a proxy server.
1) YT's Movie On Demand a.k.a. Video On Demand a.k.a. VOD is here https://www.youtube.com/movies. It has Transactional VOD (TVOD) and I believe occasionally also Ad Supported VOD (ASVOD).
2) YT's Live TV (IPTV) : https://tv.youtube.com/welcome/.
3) And YT's Originals (and also ad-free YT and ad-free YT Music) : https://www.youtube.com/red. They may have more services.

It may be annoying to you if I say this again, but you're better of concentrating on the root cause of the problem and fix that. We (including you) have already concluded that there was no green push-button solution in the YT addon settings to the issue you are experiencing. Nor in it's auxiliary addon's settings. Do yourself a favour. Just saying. Wink
I just searched this thread. Look what I found. Let the page position and read the 3 posts from there : https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid...pid2737426 . If the symptoms subscribed there are not what you experienced, you don't need a proxy server. And it can't be the cause of the issue you are experiencing. You mentioned that you don't run a proxy server, so your settings should Off (not present). Try to work toward a solution with your (Fiber, VVDSL, ADSL, 4G, or WHY) ISP.
@nAFutro
I am looking into this, not sure I can resolve the issue from the add-on.

@andrejo
Some YouTube changes only affect certain videos, and this has happened multiple times since the last version for Kodi 14.x. Sorry, this won't be repaired.

@nonob
It is completely broken in the current release version, it is working (though still not perfect) in the current beta. Available here: https://github.com/jdf76/plugin.video.yo...t-versions
Can find some more information here: https://github.com/jdf76/plugin.video.yo...issues/580

@fbacher
Not sure if I fully understand what you'd want. If you're looking to get resolved playback urls you could use https://github.com/jdf76/plugin.video.yo...esolver.py and handle playback yourself.

@z3us, @tripkip
Currently no, but will look into My Subscription improvements in the future.

@Spiderfish
Quote:My asking is..I s there any option I can make it working upon internet speed,,,for example if internet speed low then choose 240p and if internet speed high choose 1080p ? I think this will reduce the issue of mine! because I am using 4G connection not fiber and sometimes the internet speed is reduce so can I achieve that with youtube addon?
This is bitrate switching,
Quote:Bitrate switching in InputStream Adaptive is not currently implemented...

If the YouTube add-ons 'Settings - MPEG-DASH - Use for videos' is enabled then the http proxy is running, it is part of the add-on and required for >720p content and purchases. It is not part of your issue.
