Vero 4K+ Mini-review: The Only Native Kodi 4K + 3D Set-top Player

This would only require some kind of cooperation between KODI and the OSMC team, wouldn't it?

It also requires other projects to have the necessary hardware or source that through donations.

We shared the 3D patch set with CoreELEC but they don’t have a team member with a 3D TV so it’s hard for them to do proper testing / verification.

On future AMLogic devices it will be harder to implement because of security changes made on those SoCs.

Thank you for your really positive attitude. Presumably, the demand for 3D-MVC playback is marginal so there is no viable business case to work on it.
However if someone is willing from the CoreELEC team to devote energy to the implementation, I am happy to undertake testing. I have several Amlogic devices and a 3D capable LG TV from 2016.

Demand is low and AMLogic don’t officially support this feature for some time. We are lucky to have an enthusiastic 3D developer who worked hard on the implementation.

Hey @Sam.Nazarko, thinking of buying a new Vero 4K+ as a secondary 3D player. Is 3D supported out of the box w/o any special builds & SSH commands being needed? Just want plug-and-play and for 3D to remain working that way.

Yes. All beta testing has ended and stable builds now support 3D out of the box.

Excellent, ordered Smile. I'll update post #1 as well after I receive and test it.

Great - can’t get this out until Monday because of high demand at the moment.

Sam,

Not knowing much about what is needed for Dolby Vision, do you have any plans to implement it?

Thanks

It’s something we are working on but don’t want to publicly comment on anything at this time

Is there a way to share across my local network an external hard drive that is connected to my vero 4K+? The vero is hardwired by ethernet. If yes, will I be able to save mkv's to the external drive connected to vero 4k from a windows PC that I use to rip makemkv's?

Thanks

You certainly can do that, yes. You can share the drive as an SMB share, and it then shows up as a network share in Windows file explorer. But it might be easier to keep the files on the PC's hard drive and have the Vero 4K stream them across the network; that way you don't need a separate drive at all.

Install SMB Server from the App Store and it will show up automatically in Windows

I installed SMB from app store and changed settings on Vero 4k+ and it didn't show up on my windows 10 computer. I then went into vero settings and changed smb client settings min and max to none and that didn't work. I then changed to smbv1 for min and max and that didn't work. I already had windows smb 1.0 enabled.

My verizon router feeds a netgear G560S switch. I have the vero and my windows PC connected to this switch. The router only has 1 ethernet out so I need a switch regardless.

What else can I do?

Thanks

You don’t need to adjust those settings as they are client side options. Reboot both devices and the shares will show.
