In other words - you send the compressed video to MediaCodec Surface and leave Google's Android TV implementation to handle hardware accelerated decode and output rendering for the display resolution, colour gamut and dynamic range (so Android TV handles Rec 2020->Rec 709 gamut conversion, HDR->SDR conversion, and down conversion from 2160p/4K to 1080p/720p)?
Kodi just sends MPEG2/h.264/h.265 compressed video to Google's Android TV black-box implementation of MediaCodec Surface?
