Solved Possible Solution for Startup crash
#1
I have two separate Windows 64 setups. When I upgraded from Matrix v 19 t0 19.1 I began having startup crashes on both systems. I reinstalled, uninstalled and reinstalled, I installed 19. and then reinstalled 19.1 nothing worked except moving back to version 19.0.
If you need my logs I will provide them but with this many posts about this I suspect a software bug. Who knows how many haven't taken the time to say something and have just downgraded. Again if you would like my logs I will provide them!

What's the first thing we ask for when there is a problem? Right, a debug log (wiki).
And there may be others already, that doesn't mean we know the cause already.
The more log files, the bigger the chance of a solution.

At this point any failure at start is Python 2 add-ons/scripts related as Matrix has now moved along to Python 3. We need your logs to set the issue apart from unsupported add-ons and scripts, not to mention skin dependencies.

Here my logs......this was the only way to get them to you.
KODI BIN kept giving me: "Something went wrong"
and pastebin wouldn't work either.

Log

Thanks

That's quite an extensive setup. Too bad there are also 2 banned entries in it.

Why not try with a fully clean setup (no extra skins, no installed add-ons) and use your media collection, just as a starting point.
If that works, then we can take the next step.

Got rid of the two banned repositories. Tried your suggestion...."Why not try with a fully clean setup (no extra skins, no installed add-ons) and use your media collection, just as a starting point." Still crashes.....went back to 19.0 no problems, this version appears stable where there is obviously an issue with 19.1 but thank you very much! I know everyone complains.......again thanks!

Seems to be some commonality here, atm stick with what works.

As I stated in my 1st post at the top: I have two separate KODI Windows 64 setups and that they both were suffering from the "startup crash syndrome". For the last 6 days I have been reading and watching all of the posts about these crashes and there proposed solutions. I began testing each solution one at a time and then in combinations.......and I discovered on both of my setups if I uninstall or disabled "Version Check" the crashes ceased and both systems have been up for a full day without a problem! I hope this doesn't sound too simple......but right now it works!

Yes, thank you, I saw that earlier today and installed it. Stable so far! Is it about to become 19.2?

It would be on the route to 19.2 and other patches,
thank-you for getting back to us and acknowledging the fix.
