Are you running Leia?

The only reason I can think that it doesn't work for you is that the Leia version of plugin.video.themoviedb.helper doesn't have the landscape art feature, it's only available in the Matrix version.

Either ask the plugin author nicely if he can add the changes to the Leia version of the addon or upgrade to Kodi Matrix.
