I have encountered similar Kodi pauses when previously mapped network drives in Windows were no longer accessible. After unmapping these drives in Windows all Kodi pauses were gone.

This appears to be the fix, thanks!

I wouldn't consider this a solution (or at least it is a solution to the support but not to the general problem) - it is perfectly reasonable for a windows machine to have network drives that are not currently mapped - the mapping may depend on the presence or absence of a portable machine for example, or on some kerberos authentication etc. Kodi shouldn't suddenly grind to a halt in such situations. This is a bug, and a serious one at that. I have the same problem but cannot remove the network drive as that drive is necessary.
