Android Passing multichannel from FLAC to Denon AVR
#1
Is there a plugin or setting in Kodi that could pass multichannel audio (such as 5.1) from a FLAC file in a form that my Denon AVR could interpret?   My Denon manual says that it only sees 2.0 audio for FLAC (and the Denon iPad app confirms that it is only seeing 2.0 input as seen in screenshot below), but there are 5.1 and 7.1 FLAC files, such as these test files on this site that I would like to experience in all their multichannel glory.  So is there a plugin or setting in Kodi that can convert FLAC 5.1 on the fly to PCM 5.1 or DTS 5.1 so that my Denon AVR can properly place the channels?

You don't say what type of device you have Kodi installed on, if the device supports Multichannel PCM then that how 5.1/7.1 flac files will be sent to the AVR. The only thing you need to set in Kodi is the Number of Channels settings to 5.1/7.1.

The device is the Nvidia Shield Pro.

Ah sorry I only just saw Shield in that Denon app screenshot, in that case this will likely be your problem https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid...pid3088057

Ah.  I thought FLAC 5.1 was working before but hadn't examined it very closely so I doubted it had ever worked and didn't realize that the 9.0 upgrade was impeding my multichannel experience.  Thanks.   I wonder what else 9.0 has messed up in Kodi.
