2x Kodi on FireTV Cube?
#1
Hi.
I would like to have 2 instances of Kodi running on my Fire Cube.

My situation:
  • On my NAS I am running an emby server and a tvheadend server.
  • On my Fire Cube I am using the emby client (for movies) and kodi 19.4 (for live-tv)
The kodi installation is only used for live-tv and its working perfectly. My wife would kill me, if I would touch this kodi installation Wink.

My goals:
  1. 1 kodi 20.1 instance to test the tvheadend server on (and maybe try some new skins)
  2. 1 kodi instance to test emby for kodi (next gen)
I dont want to mix kodi with live-tv and movies and I dont want to use my running kodi installation for testing.

I already tried to rename the apk package of kodi with this tutorial: https://techblogs.42gears.com/how-to-cha...g-apktool/
But the finished apk cannot be installed.
Is there anything else I can do?

Maven's Kodi Builds run next to the official ones. You can just install them and have multiple versions. You can even have one Matrix, one Nexus and one Omega build on your device etc.

Maven backports Dolby Vision support in case you are asking what those builds are made for.

Thanks. I will try maven.
I found some other forks of kodi. For example Fodi. The description says: Blank Kodi 20.1 apk fork. Separate package name allows this apk to be installed along side original Kodi Apk

This sounds exactly what I am looking for. Anybody knows that fork?

edit:
Is there a "stable" 20.1 build of maven? I only can find cryptic version numbers Wink
