Do you really mean "Crash" or just movie playback stops?

Can you switch to NFS instead? Or check the samba settings to set the min version to v1 instead of None? (Kodi -> Settings Services -> Smb).
Sorry yeah I mean movie/TV show playback just random stops.

I've just checked SMB and it's already set to minimum SMB v1 and maximum V3.

I will try switching from SMB to NFS over the next few days

I have been trying to setup Kodi using NFS shares but I just keep getting Couldn't connect to network share. Kodi can see the shares but when I try to add them I get that error.

I have tried adding a direct NFS permission rule but that does not resolve the issue either. I'm using a Synology nas

Any ideas?

I have a similar setup using NFS for all my shares.
  • Synology
  • 2019 Shield Pro
  • Kodi 20.2

Have you got your Synology setup similar to this?

Max NFS protocol should be at least as high as the Kodi setting.

This is what I use for NFS permissions on each shared folder:

Here's a library from sources.xml.  Shared folder MyMedia - subfolder Music
Quote:    <music>
        <default pathversion="1"></default>
        <source>
            <name>Music</name>
            <path pathversion="1">nfs://10.0.0.55/volume1/MyMedia/Music/</path>
            <allowsharing>true</allowsharing>
        </source>
    </music>

PIRATED MOVIES ONLY AVAILABLE ON PREMIUM SUB SERVICES ARE NOT TO BE MENTIONED 🤣🤣 as you're having issues with Transformers Rise of the Beast.
WOW how did the mods slip up on this one??

You can currently rent it for $20 on Amazon Prime Video. You can also purchase a digital version of the film for $5 more if you're planning on watching it more than once.

I got NFS working with a workaround.

I'm now refreshing my library for movies and TV shows using NFS. I will report back in a few days if the crashing has stopped or continued.

Thanks

UPDATE: I changed to NFS and I have not had any crashes.

I've watched around 5-6 episodes of a TV Show and 2-3 movies and no Crashes at all.

Hopefully, it will stay like this. I will update this thread again in a few days

UPDATE :  Since moving over to NFS I have been getting a weird issue.

Video will freeze but the audio will keep playing. Then  it will then catch up.

Checked the log and I've been getting a lot of these warning errors

I decided to change my advancedsettings.xml and I'm getting much better results now.

No crashing,no frame skips or timeout buffers in the last few episodes I have watched. Around 4-5 hours.
