Do you know how long it has been that way?

The wiki was rebuilt and updated the same time as the forum, so I guess something was changed there.
Any reason you don't want to upload images to the wiki server?

Not really, have just noticed it - don't visit it all that often.

Main reason is that I can update images by updating in the repo and that flows back through to the Wiki without any manual work.

Happy to get any tips from @yol if they have them!

Hi! This was deprecated in MediaWiki 1.35.0 and will soon be removed altogether - https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:$wgAllowImageTag
This is why we deactivated it already. The pages also explains a bit why it should not be used (privacy etc.)

Please just upload the images to the wiki as you've done on the page now. More info on image insertion can be found here: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Images/en
