I have been running kodi on shields for years and they run good. I have installed it on my new htpc and having some issues I was hoping someone could help me with. Any time I launch it's locked up for a good min and then it starts working. When I exit out of a video or anything really and go back to the Kodi home screen it locks up for like 30 sec amd then works ok. It also way slower at everything then the shield and not sure why as it isn't a outdated rig not new either. Ryzen 5 2200, 32g ram, RX580, 1 TB SSD so it should have enough to run everything smooth. Videos, audio, and everything runs smoothly.

Any ideas?

To receive meaningful assistance you will need to provide a full debug log.

If you are using the Basic Method, then ensure the following is applied...
1.Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging,
2.Restart Kodi
3.Replicate the problem.
4.Upload the log to Kodi Paste Site manually or use the Kodi Logfile Uploader. (wiki) With either method post the link to the log back here.

If you are using the Advanced Method ensure you have correctly created and applied the advancedsettings.xml file (wiki)

In both instances, you should see the word DEBUG throughout the log.
