Dolby Vision on 4K projector with Android TV from external SSD
#1
Hello everyone,

I have an Xgimi Horizon Ultra projector that has a Dolby Vision certificate. The projector has Android TV built-in and I've installed the latest KODI 20.3 App.
Since my internet is too slow for streaming I would like to watch Dolby Vision content from my External Samsung SSD that is connected to the projector.

When I open the preview/info of the movie/series from an external Samsung SSD in KODI it says that is in Dolby Vision, but when i play it, my projector does not register it as Dolby Vision format ( i don't get Dolby Vision Logo ).
When the projector registers Dolby Vision format there is automatic info with Dolby Vision Logo in the top right corner and i can open Dolby Vision options for picture settings. But it only works from Streaming App ( Netflix or Disney +).

Is there any way to play Dolby Vision content from my Samsung SSD via KODI app on my projector and that i get Dolby Vision format ( logo in top right corner ) and all the Dolby Vision options just like when i am using streaming apps?.

Thank you so much!

To receive meaningful assistance you will need to provide a full debug log.

The instructions are here... debug log (wiki)

If you are using the Basic Method, then ensure the following is applied...
1.Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging,
2.Restart Kodi
3.Replicate the problem.
4.Upload the log to Kodi Paste Site manually or use the Kodi Logfile Uploader. (wiki) With either method post the link to the log back here.

If you are using the Advanced Method ensure you have correctly created and applied the advancedsettings.xml file (wiki)

In both instances, you should see the word DEBUG throughout the log.

Note: Full logs only. No partial or redacted logs
Do NOT post your logs directly into the forum. Use the Kodi Paste Site. Post the link to your pasted log in the forum

last i checked 20.3 only supported Dolby Vision in .mp4 containers, to get it from .mkv you need v21

use a prerelease https://mirrors.kodi.tv/releases/android/arm/
or a nightly https://mirrors.kodi.tv/nightlies/android/arm/master/
may also be able to enroll in the beta program on google play
