Something I would love to work on, but wanted to ping around to see if already exists/has been ruled out:

I own a lot of movies and TV shows on DVD that I'm not excited about digitizing. It would be really handy to be able to create library entries for media stored on disc, which point to the DVD drive. A couple tiers of functionality to develop, using TV Shows for example:

1) Dummy TV show library entry prompts user to insert a disc.
2) Dummy TV show library entry with dummy episode listing prompts user to insert season X, disc Y, checks for disc ID. Reads NFO file to determine which season/disc is required for the particular episode.
3) #2 + skip to correct chapter on the DVD (maybe not possible if the FBI warnings, menu, etc. can't be skipped)
4) #3 - NFO + scraper/database of TV shows to eliminate time consuming setup.

I have a friend who wrote a program that will rip the individual eps from a DVD then name to the sXXeXX. Its has saved me tons of time!

I think what he's looking for is something that will tell him what disc of the library to insert once he selects something. Rather than having to rip them all.

But if you are looking to rip everything, my tvripper wrapper for dvddecrypter will do all the heavy lifting for you.
