Relationship of SVN-Branch linuxport and trunk
#1
UPDATE: Please read this first: http://xbmc.org/team-xbmc/2009/09/22/not...th-change/

Hi,

I try to understand the structure of code and branches within XBMC SVN. I assume that the "linuxport" branch (http://trac.xbmc.org/log/branches/linuxport) is some kind of a development branch for all platforms.

1) Is that correct?
2) Could you please explain to me the role of the "trunk" folder (http://trac.xbmc.org/browser/trunk) compared to linuxport?

Thank you in advance!

Cheers,

Trunk is the "old" trunk, ie the original main developing branch.
It has now been relegated to Xbox only Smile
So basically Linuxport is the new "trunk" and things get backported from there to the Xbox "Trunk" branch.
Clear as mud?

Right, we definitely needed a 5mo old thread dragged up for this...

This is horrible practice, please don't do it anymore.

If people are asked to search the forums prior to creating new threads then bringing up and updating an old thread makes sense. Otherwise start purging stuff.

Hi, althekiller,

Thanks for sharing your opinion. 5 months are definitely an astonishingly long time. Back then, the internet didn't even exist, or should I be wrong here? Wink

I wasn't aware that I could disappoint any of you guys by such a simple thing as a short posting. I might consider to switch to twitter in the future. :rolleyes2:

Honestly I was going to say that it didn't need to be updated as well, but I figured as much of a bastard as I already am, I didn't need to push it further. :p
Mad props to al.
