I may have missed this as I haven't been keeping tabs recently, but is the iplayer plugin broken on the beta 4 build?
Using version 2.3.2 of the iplayer plugin I get an error popup.

EDIT: Never mind, must have been some screwed up setting somewhere. Wiping my XBMC profile directory and adding the iplayer plugin back fixed it.

Generally XBMC plugins tend to be less skinned so that they're more skin-agnostic. Saves the plugin writer a lot of work too.

My final aim is to get iPlayer working on AppleTV.
But before trying that I'm trying to get it working on my iMac.
I am outside the UK and have a UK proxy set up on the iMac. With the proxy set up, I am able to watch programmes on the iPlayer desktop application - so I don't have a proxy issue.
I have the plug-in installed and can navigate within XBMC through channels and then to programmes.
I choose a programme, get a number of status messages - loading catchup stream info, selecting video stream and the final one of which is "PLAYING"
But nothing happens after that - I'm still at the menu listing the programme.
My log file contains an error:
ERROR: CDVDPlayer::OpenInputStream - error opening [rtmpt://cp41752.edgefcs.net:80/ondemand?auth=daEdXayaFcwdbdlaTdsawbVabbicjc8dhc1-bm59sv-bWG-KnpDBpyqGEoEszK&aifp=v001&slist=secure/800kbps/b00vz1mx_1290212296;secure/480kbps/b00vz1mx_1290212543;secure/1500kbps/b00vz1mx_1290212543 playpath=mp4ecure/800kbps/b00vz1mx_1290212296 swfurl=http://www.bbc.co.uk/emp/10player.swf swfvfy=true timeout=600]
Can anyone tell me what this means?

if you are running linux check if rtmpdump is installed.

I have just updated to xbmc rc1 on ubuntu 10.10. I have problems with xbmc hanging and auto rebooting during play.
Usually one stream plays ok. The second one seems to have problems

Thanks for the advice but I'm running it on Windows 7, and I've tried switching the video source to akami but it doesn't make any difference. Though it may only be long streams - short ones seem okay.

please post a debug log in case there is any information in there that could be of help.

I am having exactly the same problem, as is Borisbadenov. Both of us have posted help requests, together with fault logs but so far nothing doing. Am quite prepared to believe I'm doing something stupid, but if so then not a clue what it might be. Running the latest Dhama release on a PPC PowerMac G5, but it works perfectly on my intel laptop, so is it simply an intel/PPC problem? Have tried uninstalling and re-installing, in fact I've tried everything I can think of, so any offers of help greatly appreciated.
At least I know that it's not just me.

This is one of the plugins I use every day and it works well but I do have one feature request.
The iplayer site lists the date and time the show was a) Originally aired b) last aired c) Date the show will be removed from the iplayer.
Would it be possible to include these dates/times on the info screen? I imagine this should be possible as you are scrapping the plot/program description already.
