VDPAU frame dropping issue
#16
Well, what can i say? The GUI is smooth at 50fps (using 1920x1080, 50Hz modeline), switching resolution works also. Watching iron man 1080p trailer absolutely smooth. I have safefull definitely disabled in my advancedsettings.xml. cpu is at 1800mhz, gpu at 550, shaders at 1600mhz. watching killa or casino royale stutters sometimes, but at least the gui is smooth and most files as well. sd never was a problem.

my xorg.conf over here: http://sprunge.us/NEGc

AFAIK the safefull patch only handles issues for 8200/8300 igps?! is this an ion or pcie card?

Neither, it's an igp. GIGABYTE GA-E7AUM-DS2H motherboard.

Same problem here with the same motherboard. Ironically, I bought this motherboard specifically to use in an HTPC with XBMC. Safe fullscreen patch doesn't work for me either. I'm forced to use Auto resolution with -fs option at startup to not drop frames like crazy. System info in XBMC reports that I'm at 1280x720p resolution when I do so.

Is this something that can be fixed in the drivers or is it a problem with XBMC ?

Just wondered because I was just about to build a system using the GA-E7AUM mobo although I'm pairing with a Core 2 Duo E8400 so can still use windows

Glad to hear I'm not alone. I wonder how many other people have this issue - it's a pretty popular motherboard.

Post your debug log + xorg.conf as well - Maybe the devs can look into this issue further...

Might be an idea to start a new thread about VDPAU dropping frames which has Gigabyte GA-E7AUM in the title Huh

Hi guys, got the same issue (i think).
This thread: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=52813

Using a Asus P5N7A-VM board, based on the same chip as your MB's, NVIDIA 9300/9400.
I got logs of everything.

Try rebuilding with this patch: http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/6761
It should fix your problems

Yes please let us know if it works as I'm very interested, as I said earlier I'm thinking of using the same mobo Big Grin

Compiled r21070 and tested: SD / HD 1080p in h264 / HD 1080p in VC-1

And what should I say? Totally fluent and seamless playback!
Even Barakas >40Mbit/s-sequences run perfect!

I'm totally amazed!

Well done! :-)
