I have all my films on a FREENAS server with 1 hard drive in it - It is set to spin down after 10mins. XBMC is on a seperate PC. When I browse my films in library mode it causes the hdd to spin up on the FREENAS server even if i don't click a film to play.

Is this because xbmc is searching for new fanart or something? is it possible to disable this so that xbmc will not spin up the hard drive until i actually select a film to play.

So if i just want to look at what films i have in library mode (and not play anything), the NAS hard drive will not spin up.

not changeable and you are correct on the culprit. it would stop if all thumbs were in place

Thanks for the quick response, I will have a play around and see what happens when I give each file its corresponding fanart image.

To add to spiff. Also make sure you have ALL thumbs, fi you do not make sure you dont have the "Generate thumbs for any item that dont have one" or whatever the option is.
