[SOLVED] Why do my videos become choppy between scene changes
#1
If you are using m4v files, created by Handbrake, you most likely have chapter markers. Those chapter markers is what causes XBMC to become choppy for a couple of seconds, and it can get quite annoying.

If you don't want the choppyness, download MetaX

For Windows: http://www.danhinsley.com/MetaX.htm

For Mac: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/24994/metax

Load your video in MetaX

Go to the chapter tab.

Click delete enough times so that there are no chapters remainging.

Press the process button.

Now you won't have chapter information for your movies, but the choppyness is gone, which in my opinion is worth it.

Sorry to disappoint you, but my entire dvd collection is contained in mkv with chapter markers, and there's no stutter. My bet is your files are somewhat fishy.

I am using m4v, not mkv. The reason I use this extension vs. yours is because of compatibility with my other devices. They must handle chapter information differently.

Also, does XBMC recognize your chapter markers? It doesn't recognize mine.
