Fit-PC 2.0 Turbo with Intel GMA500 integrated graphics for 1080p HD videos?

Question
I've been wanting a HTPC for a while but have been put off by the cost and the hassle of having to make a cheaper computer silent, but recently I came across this;
http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_1270.html
the thing is its only a 1.6 processor, but its boasts hardware decoding for h.264, mpeg and wmv9. so I was just hoping someone could help me with what kind of performance I might get out of this thing, would it be able to play full hidef video as its boasts or do you think it might be a bit of a stretch for it? I would be using XBMC on it.

Wondering why you wouldn't be looking at Ion Pc's which are cheap and handle 1080 without any issue....

what something like this?

when you add the case, the ram, and a passive psu, then the ION is more expensive, but you are right in that the ion would then provide a fair bit more cpu and ram for the that price, but it doesn't say it has hardware decoding, which means the processor will have to do it which adds to the watts and heat.

You want one of these:

That thing is more then a hundred GBP more expensive then I paid for my Revo (shipped half way around the world to the USA), won't work with XBMC the way you want, has half the memory, and I think doesn't even include a hard disk.

Its an awful deal, buy an Ion you live in the UK where they're cheap as hell.

so something like this then??
http://www.powerc.com/uk/ps/ION%20330%20...4wod9Q8f-Q
again its not really much cheaper, and the improved stats are balanced out by the lack of hardware decoders, which means the cpu will have to work a lot harder and hotter, that does of course decreases the likely hood that I will encounter driver issues though.
but basically your saying there are more reliable alternatives than the Fit-PCs?

The fit pc have some advantages over the ION machines ive seen, such as built in IR reciever, and a very low power consumption. supposedly 7w when playing full hd video.. its also vesa mountable and very small.

the drawbacks are :
no hardware accelleration in xbmc yet (intel gpu), so youll have to use an external player for hd-video
no audio over hdmi

youll basicly have to use windows, and external players to get it to work as ive understood it.

i have an ASROCK ion 330, and a fit-pc 2. I havent gotten around to installing the fit pc2 yet though, so i really cant say anything concrete about performance or operations.

The diff in cost was marginal for me since i had to import the fit-pc2 myself, but it should be about 50-100£ cheaper than an ION box with optical drive. could be worth the price if you can get around the hassles of everything not working out of the box.

the ASRock ION machines are also not silent, it has a system fan so even with a solid state hard drive it still wont be silent, the diver issue is a big concern though as it would completely negate the benefits of the decoders, there is a Linux version available but that still doesn't mean XBMC is compatible :/

I'd like to reincarnate this topic after 3 years.

Today we proudly have XBMC 11.0 (and 12.0 beta). I found at http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Supported_hardware that nowadays it supports:
1) Intel's VAAPI,
2) Intel GMA 950 or above... but fit-PC2 is GMA 500

Can anybody confirm that fit-PC2 (http://www.fit-pc.com/web/fit-pc/fit-pc2...fications/) has still problems with playing XBMC 1080p or 720p?
Any comments on fit-PC2 XBMC (2012) performance are highly appreciated.

PS.
I'd like to get rid of ASRock 330HT BD due to relative high power consumption (37W and sleep 3W) vs fit-PC2 (max 8W and sleep 0.5W). I need computer running non-stop with iTunes and reliable MC system, like XBMC.

FYI: you dug up a 3 year old thread to ask something not even related to the topic.
