Okay. I'm going to search the NVIDIA boards for clues.

*Right. The missus is on amazon sourcing us a 1080p tv. It may be the easiest solution...

However. I found this on the nvidia boards:

That will give you 1366x768 even though it still says 720p (don't ask me why it's done this way, I hate the people who come up with this stuff)

So maybe, just maybe that explains why I have found 720p to be the smoothest and least tempramental mode? But I just don't know. And still can't get that setting to survive a reboot. I have to ssh in and trigger nvidia-settings to reget 720p.

All in all, I think getting a new tv may just make it all easier. Now I've just got to put up with the nagging...

Isn't there anyway to set this up in xorg.conf so it triggers 720p everytime?

I've got a 1080p TV coming next week. I hope others with this problem manage to get it sorted though.
