[LINUX] Failed to initialize audio

Hello,

I've upgraded to alsa 1.20 and now when using xbmc i get a failed to initialize audio, but after running speaker-test from a terminal its fine?

Any ideas?

more on this, i just cold booted and went to mythtv and the audio played fine straight off the bat.....seems to be an issue with xbmc.

Not much info to work with, what does aplay -l and aplay -L give? What are the xbmc audio settings? What audio settings does mythtv use?

Asrock ION 330 running Openelec 3

XBMC 2:
XBMC Frodo running on OSX 10.8 (Core i7, Hackintosh)

XBMC 3:
XBMC Frodo running on OSX 10.8 (2011 iMac)

Server and TVHeadend backend: Ubuntu 12.04

Hey,
I encountered something similar to this when setting up my test machine recently.
Check that your user account is added to the 'Audio' group.
