I think that's the way to work around it, but I can't say for sure without trying it out myself. It seems to me like more people should be running into this problem, so I'm not sure why this isn't a part of Launcher already.
well RCB has a "SOLO" mode which closes XBMC while launching roms and when exiting RCB it opens XBMC again. so once again RCB FTMFW....
