Alaska development thread
gekados Wrote:Hi Anders.

How did you copy Alaska to your folders, it looks like all your filenames have been made lowercase ? Could that be the problem ?

Just a guess Smile

Ah, I didn'n notice that. Well, I just cloned the Alaska skin into /home/anders/.xbmc/skins/ Which makes me wonder how on earth they became lowercase. :/ But since the log says that it is opening the lowercase files successfully, I guess that should not be the problem. Are those files in your Alaska folder CamelCased?

Hm.. I see that they are in fact camelcased on the git repo..:/
Hitcher Wrote:- also on music menu, with "square" view, if i press "i" to show album info. i can not read, because its confused with background.

Fixed, thanks.

Hitch did you notice it does this for music artist as well when using Square's
GrimmVarg Wrote:Ok, I'll just try a last time to get any input on this, which I have narrowed down to being a skin/Alaska problem.

Now I'm runnin karmic koala, with the newest svn-PPA build of xbmc from (23 nov) and the newest pull form the Alaska git repo. Now, everything works fine in every other skin I have tried. But in alaska xbmc crashes when i try to run any tv-show. NOT regular films.

I have tried removing /home/user/.xbmc and regenerating the library, I have tried completely reinnstalling xbmc, and remove and reclone Alaska. Still the same thing happens.
The only thing in the log file is a complaint about
Code:
GetLabel - Unknown nodetype requested 12
and
Code:
WARNING: CreateFile, successfuly opened </home/anders/.xbmc/skin/Alaska/media/arrowupnf.png> instead of </home/anders/.xbmc/skin/Alaska/media/ArrowUpNF.png>
which happens a lot with different files. Also messages like this
Code:
WARNING: Skin has invalid include: Animation_FilesInfoSlide
appears.

Now I'm loving Alaska and dont want to go back to using Aeon since I'm on a Acer Revo and Aeon is a little bit laggy for my hardware. Does anybody have any idea whats going on?

I also put my crashlog her just in case. http://pastebin.com/m4c716d7a

Tank you

Anders
What happens if you try playing one using a keyboard?

Certain ftp clients make all files lowercase when transferring, had that problem with another prog a few years ago.

It might be able to open the *.xml files even though it gives a warning, but it could be different for the *.png files ?

Again, i'm just guessing here Smile

Yeah, that could be. I'll run a rename script and see what happens Smile

Correction: Actually, the names are lowercase on the git repo.. so all of you should be getting theese errors. That is png's in "Alaska/media"

Actually, the names are lowercase on the git repo.. so all of you should be getting theese warnings. Can anybody confirm this? Warnings like this:
Code:
WARNING: CreateFile, successfuly opened </home/anders/.xbmc/skin/Alaska/media/arrowupnf.png> instead of </home/anders/.xbmc/skin/Alaska/media/ArrowUpNF.png>

They're not lowercase on GitHub and the warnings aren't anything to worry about as XBMC now works around any case problems (as shown in the warning).
I have a bug report, it might be found through other menus/ways, but this is how I found it:

In Music, Play a song, hit TAB to get the jumping bars, hit M to get the menu bar up, select the icon with 3 dots (...) to get the "advanced" bar.

The first settings icon (counting from right towards left) gives you settings for the visualisations but only the "selected" option is shown probably due to colour or something.

The second setting icon shows a grey block, but there seems not to be any to be done there.

Okay, thats good. But FYI

However, this:

Code:
WARNING: Skin has invalid include: Animation_FilesInfoSlide
is what I suspect is causing the crash. But if nobody else is having this error I guess i'll just look arround in the logs and the skin code on my own for a while. Thanks for the input Smile
You're right some are lowercase, hopefully the EqUiNoX's 'XML Validator and tidier tool' will help sort all these issues out.

Try deleting the include and see if that makes a difference.

I deleted it and now everything works perfectly! Thanks Smile

Hehe.. well, not perfect.. Tried looking at tv-show information and get crash from

WARNING: Skin has invalid include: Objects_FSDEInfoCertificate
