First time using SPDIF
#1
HI there guys, Ive completed another build, this time using an Asus M4A 785-M Mobo. Both audio and vido are both running through hdmi to a Sony 42" LCD.

But now Im thinking about using SPDIF for audio, to use on a Sony box home theater. This will be my first time using SPDIF. My motherboard should support it, and i'll have to see if the receiver has a SPDIF input, but aside form that what else is there to consider?

Most media that's being played on this htpc are divx,mp3's,some H.264 files. Will I have issues playing certain media? or would it be easier just to stick to 3.5mm jack to rca composite cable.

Spdif is also better than a 3,5mm jack, as the jack can only support stereo.
Spdif on ati is better than nvidia, except the latest generation of nvidia.

Remember that sometimes you've to wire a little two-/three-pin cable to your graphic-card, to enable spdif.
Thats it.
