i had the same problem and like jmarshall requested i have uncommented the define line in xbapplicationex.cpp to make a log which i can give to him.
did an own compile for the first time with 3.may cvc and guess what ... the problems are gone.
the only remote related line in the log is:
03-05-2005 07:48:40 error remote: pkt:1 cnt:77 region:10 wbuttons:226 firstevent:0 sincefirst:0...accepted
but that only appears if i press rewind really often during startup
the skipping and jumping doesnt appear to be there anymore. btw: i use a third party xbox remote made by "brooklyn"
