You believe this s**t... it working!! at least the start and stop of xbmc. I had to do the follownig

access control disabled, clients can connect from any host

Now its at least starts and stops xbmc correctly! Does anyone know why this was needed? I hope I can get the rest of the scripts working.

Lest you think your post didn't help anyone solve the same problem, I wanted to write back and say thank you as typing xhost + into a terminal window on the desktop in MythTV did finally allow me to solve the same problem you were trying to. Thanks!
