MythBox
#1
I installed MthBox and it seems promising, but it sort of freezes (or at least I can't click or select any of the options (like settings, live tv, etc) on the left.

When I start it, it says "Loading Directory" and "Retrieved 0 items", but doesn't go any further. After 10 minutes, I click cancel and the little popup goes away, but then the buttons on the left are not responsive. However, it is finding my mythtv info because some of the artwork is displaying and I can move left and right on the artwork...but I can't escape or exit out of MythBox at this point.

I have to kill the process.

I'm running MythBuntu 10.04 and xbmc 9.11 R26018.

Well, I guess it would help if I put it in the "scripts" folder rather than the "programs" folder.

So, that problem is gone. Now I only need to figure out why the live tv isn't working.

Here is the error that I get...

Exception: 144 (HY000): Table './mythconverg/progra...
Function" <function onilnit at 0xb5824c44>

Unfortunately, the ... is where it gets cut off.
By the way, I'm using a Silicon Dust HD tuner, a HDPVR and an analog tuner.

Can you play live tv with the myth://protocol ?

If your not using a lot of pluggins and scripts I recommend upgrading xbmc to the ppa svn version. Then grab the latest trunk version of MythBox. It's working nicely for me.

If you want the svn ppa I think you can do this.
Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc-svn/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install xbmc

ah no.. I meant for mythbox not xbmc itself :-)

I can't see how you install it into Dharma as even the RC1 mythbox download on Google Code is not zip file..

Yes...

And now it works. My channel guide (mysql) had a corruption, so I had to repair that through mythweb and now my channel guide is fixed and MythBox works now too.

Thanks for the help!

...although the interface is a bit unresponsive at times. Sometimes the back button (exit) does not even respond. I think if I wait long enough when this happens it should eventually respond, but it is long enough to where you want to just kill the process.

http://code.google.com/p/mythbox/source/checkout
Open a terminal enter this.
Code:
hg clone https://mythbox.googlecode.com/hg/ mythbox
I used 7-zip to make mythbox.zip

You can switch to mythicalLibrarian if the mythtv interface is too slow. mythicalLibrarian imports your mythtv recordings into the XBMC library. It is very speedy and it allows mythtv to have the same control it always has.
Use mythicalLibrarian to make a library out of your MythTV files. Leave the recording to MythTV and use XBMC as your library.
