NFO file question
#1
Not sure if this is the right place as it may apply more to the scrapers development forum, so yell at me and move it if appropriate.

When XBMC looks for .nfo files, if the actual file name is THIS_MOVIE.ISO does it look for THIS_MOVIE.nfo or THIS_MOVIE.ISO.nfo?
Or will it be able to figure it out on it's own? I can't find anything in the docs that talks about anything more specific that "THIS_MOVIE"/

Thought I would ask before building 5 or 600 files.. :/

Thank you!

I don't know why I'm having such trouble with the search -- with as many "nfo" strings in that post, you would think it would have come out on top when I searched the forums.

OK, so if I read all of that correctly, the short version of this would be that for

BIG_LEBOWSKI_(THE).ISO

I would create

BIG_LEBOWSKI_(THE).nfo

and the contents of that file would be:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118715/

Which points to the imdb page for the movie.
Next time I start XBMC, because I have it set to scan for new content, it should see the new ISO file, note the .nfo file and follow the link to gather the information.

However, what happens when I already have the movie file in the database and the scraper could find the movie information on it's own?
Do I have to do the "get movie information" for each movie?
I have tried the "set content" and selected rescan but nothing new is found. It seems the only way to get the information updated is to do each movie individually.

I have my movies set up in 27 subdirectories - a - z and zz_unsorted for new movies.
I was hoping that setting content in the parent directory and selecting "scan recursively" would work, but that appears to be completely ignored too.

This is xbmc 9.11 on macosx 10.6.(4 I think whatever is latest)

Edit: Nope, it appears to be ignoring the nfo files altogether - I have one for another movie with the nfo file in place, but even a individual movie update doesn't find the information.

If you already have the information scanned, then the only reason to add a .nfo file is if you want better information for some reason. If you wish to do a complete rescan (i.e. throw away everything you have and grab all new data) then you can set content to "None" and you'll be prompted to have things cleaned out. Then just set content back to "Movies" and rescan.
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules.
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first.

Thanks - that was the trick I was looking for!
