Dropped frames/stuttering on 1080p, Mac Mini + CrystalHD
#1
I'm running a 2.0GHz Mac Mini (GMA950 video), with a CrystalHD card and I am seeing quite a few dropped frames and stuttering when I play 1080p content.

It seems to happen to some extend on all my 1080p files, even the smaller ones and it's noticeable when watching. Happens both when playing from smb and local disk.

I'm running Dharma Beta 3 and CrystalHD r171, but have also tried with CrystalHD 3.6.0 binaries with the same result.

Logs from freshly rebooted system, I played the file for a minute or two and had 202 dropped frames:

dmesg: http://pastebin.com/bHjPTMRf

xbmc: http://pastebin.com/Hwc8gsmh

CPU load stays low, aq and vq is around 99% but a/v flickers between 0.0xx and 0.1xx

Here is a link to a screenshot showing the "o" information while playing:

uname -a:
Darwin brian-lund-larsens-mac-mini.local 9.8.0 Darwin Kernel Version 9.8.0: Wed Jul 15 16:55:01 PDT 2009; root:xnu-1228.15.4~1/RELEASE_I386 i386

Any help is appreciated.

I changed the display settings (under OSX) to run my TV at 1080p @ 24Hz and that made it go away. It was running 1080p @ 60 Hz before.

Do you have "adjust refresh to match framerate" turned on?

I tried that early on, but it appears that function does nothing under OSX. I guess it would have solved my problem if it was implemented.

I think I'll have to live with manually switching refresh rate for now or getting Linux to work on this box so I can be rid of OSX.
