I was thinking of taking advantage of this deal on Newegg:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundl..._-11052010

I was thinking of getting this and:
* Nvidea 8-series graphics card
* 32 GB SSD hard drive

And the just running XBMC Live. I have some networked storage that I have all my movies on, so the hard drive just needs to hold the OS and add-ons.

Is this a good setup? I was also looking at the Revo 3610. I'm really unser of what to get / what I need to get.

That system is junk...only 6channel audio and one pci slot equals bad sound and no upgradability

I feel so ignorant, I'm actually a reasonably experienced computer programmer and I don't know about any of this stuff. What would you guys suggest?

I want something that will play DVD's and run my SNES emulator, maybe even the Nintendo 64 emulator.

This isn't to be my primary computer, just something to get the content to the TV screen. I like the idea of something that is not needlessly expensive or energy consuming (low power CPU, hard drive)

This looked like a good deal to me:

...but I'd be paying for Windows 7 when I really just want to put XBMC Live on it. And then I also want to swap out the hard drive for an SSD. So it seems like I should get something more bare bones?

If you're interested in my opinion - I have Asrock ION (same specs, different manufacturer) running XBMC Live for more than a year now. No problem at all. It's cheap, small, energy efficient, handles DVDs and HD video files seamlessly.
My skins:

Amber
Quartz

That is what I recommend:

With that, all I'd need to get would be say, 2GB of ram and an SSD, right. Would 40GB be enough?

2GB of RAM and a 30-40GB SSD is perfect.

I just ordered it. I got the hard drive and ram off amazon for $125 all together. They had this drive used for $90, hopefully I didn't make any mistakes in compatibility, I can return it though: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0031X8...ss_product

Thanks for you help!
