[CLOSED] Advanced Launcher - Applications Launcher Addon for XBMC
Hi!

I've been using Advanced Launcher for quite a while now launching emulators and mostly pc games and it's beyond fantastic! Great work!

But when I added some pc games yesterday I got an 'addon.py error' and since then it's all messed up like hell! I was on XBMC 12.0 and AL 2.2.0 using Windows 8.1 x64. No matter which game I selected, it always started one particular game (Shank). Upon manually removing a game, all launchers disappeared! Upon creating a new launcher, they all reappeared. Strangely, it worked again after this, but after scanning for new pc games again I got the same addon.py error and couldn't launch any games properly. Importing an older backup didn't work as well...
I uninstalled AL in XBMC and removed the xbmc/userdata/addon_data/plugin.program.advanced.launcher/ folder. After updating to XBMC 12.3 I installed AL anew, but got the same addon.py error again when scanning for new games and couldn't enter the specific launcher. After manually adding a game, I was able to enter the launcher, and there was the list with all the games, but without any informations, thumbs or whatsoever.

I uploaded the content of my launchers.xml file here:
http://pastebin.com/TiYCfQtC

I hope you guys can help me!

EDIT:
Got it! Reverted to 2.1.0 and it works right off the start! Is it save to upgrade to 2.2.0 or should I stay with 2.1.0?

Btw if i have to redo this again, do you have your youtube video showing how to set up a web browser, I remember that helped get this working when i did it awhile back but im having trouble locating it.

The bat file its pointing to works fine, its just advanced launcher giving me that error whenever i try to click on it and create a launcher or use this existing one to launch chrome.

I can access the settings for it yet, but as far as simply clicking on the program, it spits out that error now.
Your launchers.xml file content was really really old. No category or trailer path support. Replace the content of your launchers.xml file by this one : http://pastebin.com/jQTaVAxa

Could you post the content of the xbmc.log file after the error occurs? But I'm pretty sure your launchers.xml file have been corrupted. In this case you should use the restore backup option into Advanced Launcher settings : http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...pid1581239

According to the content of your launchers.xml file, the lnk support of your PC launcher is not activated. So instead of directly starting your lnk games files, Advanced Launcher start the defined application. As your defined application is not an .exe file but a lnk game file, Advanced launcher start the defined game. No error here, but a wrong setup.

I'm not able to reproduce your problem. Deleting, adding or scanning for new games works correctly on my system. As askeb before, I need to see the content of the xbmc.log file after the error occurs to understand what could be your problem.

XBMC cache refresh problem. Normally you just need to restart XBMC, to have the thumbs and fanart images displayed again.

Make a copy of you launchers.xml file, and try to upgrade to 2.2.0. But once I do not have the content of a xbmc.log file after on of the addon error occurs, I couldn't tell you what is wrong and if it is safe to upgrade.
I am still getting the same error, even when i click on the program that error comes up, i uninstalled then reinstalled and still that same error as above now.

And i cant seem to roll back either.

Anywhere i can just get the older version as well?

Actually followed the guy aboves advice deleted that folder and now i can access it again.

I wish i could turn updates off for this program because it just works for simple web launchuing. But then after a few months of updates it always stops working for me.

Even using the launchers.xml file I post for you here?If so, this is not an Advanced Launcher problem, it's an XBMC related problem. I have tested this launchers.xml file on my Windows 8.1 system with XBMC version 12.3 and it works corretly. There is no reason that it did not works on your system. If you still have an error using the launchers.xml file I give you, please post the content of the xbmc.log file here using pastebin service. You may have another kind of error.

Probably you do not have any other version of Advanced Launcher on XBMC and not present into the xbmc/addons/packages directory.

Archives are located here (the link was in the first line of this thread). Download for example the version 2.1.0. and copy/paste it into the xbmc/addons/packages directory. Then start XBMC, select Advanced Launcher > Add-on information > Rollback > then select the older version to install it.

Great.

You do what you want. If you do not want Advanced Launcher to be updated any more, just uninstall Angelscry's repository, so you will have not anymore update... See you when you will install Gotham release...
Update to version 2.2.0.

A lot of users seems to encounter an error with the new 2.2.0 version of Advanced Launcher. This error is due to the fact that you have not modified/updated the launchers.xml file since a long time ago. So, new features and parameters information (like categories or trailer paths) are not present/saved into your actual launchers.xml file. Unfortunately, the new 2.2.0 version of Advanced Launcher needs these parameters to work correctly. Here is how to simply solve this problem :

  1. Rollback Advanced Launcher to version 2.1.0. To do this : go into archives located here. Download for version 2.1.0 of Advanced Launcher and copy/paste the corresponding zip file into the xbmc/addons/packages directory. Then start XBMC, select Advanced Launcher > select Add-on information option > Rollback > then select the 2.1.0 version to perform the rollback.
  2. Start version 2.1.0 of Advanced Launcher.
  3. Edit something into one of your category/launcher/item (description, title, or whatever...). Once you will perform this modification, the launchers.xml file will be updated and the new parameters information (like categories or trailer paths) will be automatically added and saved into the launchers.xml file.
  4. Exit Advanced Launcher.
  5. Reinstall version 2.2.0 of Advanced Launcher.
  6. Start version 2.2.0 of Advanced Launcher. All must be ok now.
Sorry for the error.
Advanced Launcher and RetroPlayer

I don't know if most of the users know it, but since its version 1.5.2 (released in august 2011), Advanced Launcher supports XBMC built-in functions. It's means that it is possible to play any media supported by XBMC directly from Advanced Launcher. This is also valid for the media files supported by RetroPlayer, a custom branch of XBMC that can play legally obtained ROMs using emulators from RetroArch.

So if you want to create a roms launchers using RetroPlayer you just have to create a file launcher with these parameters :

Application : CTonguerogram Files (x86)\XBMC\XBMC.exe or /usr/bin/xbmc
Arguments : PlayMedia(%rom%)
Files Extension : zip

Source : http://www.gwenael.org/xbmc/index.php?title=RetroPlayer
Google TV Spotlight

If you are interested into starting and using Google TV Spotlight directly from XBMC, it is really easy to do it using Advanced Launcher.

ImageImage

First you need to have a web browser installed on your HTPC system. Google Chrome (for Windows system) and Chromium (for Linux system) are the most compatible and dedicated. Then you just have to create a stand-alone launcher with those parameters :

For Windows :
Application : C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe
Arguments : -kiosk "http://www.google.com/tv/spotlight-gallery.html"

For Linux :
Application : /usr/bin/chromium
Arguments : -kiosk "http://www.google.com/tv/spotlight-gallery.html"

All the navigation into Google TV Spotlight can normally be done using the remote.
I have serious trouble with sound on my machine.

Then i decided to try the new Gotham version of XBMC and voila, no sound in spotify so i decided to revert back to Frodo (which had been updated to 12.3) and now i still dont have any sound in advanced launcher spotify.

First, Advanced Launcher don't have anything to do with sounds. Advanced Launcher is just starting applications. That XBMC which control, well or not, the sound output. When you write that you are using version 12 of Frodo, it was version 12.0 or 12.2?

First simple thing you can try is to disable navigations sound into XBMC. As I know, XBMC Audio engine, release sounds only after 10 seconds. So... if navigation sounds are activated, sound will be released only 10 second after your start an application... but generally, after 10 second, your application is already started, and if it was not able to get sound control, you will not have any sound.

Concerning your .asoundrc file, I do not have the same audio setup than you, so it will be hard to me to tell your if it was correctly setuped or not.
I am running Frodo 12.3 and sadly it didn't work when disabling navigation sounds.

If Pulse audio is installed on your system, you can try to unsintall it. It seems to fix a lot of audio problems for XBMCbuntu 12.3 users : http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=181236
Thanks but it didn't help Sad
(2013-12-31, 18:46)holmen Wrote: Thanks but it didn't help Sad
Ok... so it will be my last suggestion : Try to add these lines into your .asounrc file :

Code:
ctl.!default {
        type plug
        slave {
                pcm both
        }
}

Then, reboot your system and test sounds. If it's not working, I strongly suggest you to ask help on XBMCbuntu dedicated thread (http://forum.xbmc.org/forumdisplay.php?fid=52) because your sound problem is related to XBMC, XBMCbuntu and their 12.3 version.
Sadly it didn't work. Thanks for you help anyway
