[CLOSED] Advanced Launcher - Applications Launcher Addon for XBMC
SOLVED: Edit - This issue seems to have been resolved in the changes to 1.10.15
__________________________________________________________________

I'm just getting started on XBMC and expect that I've missed something obvious.

My current setup is:
Win 7 64b
XBMC Eden (current download)
Angelscry repository 1.2.2
Advanced Launcher 1.10.12
Aeon MQ3

I've created two simple standalone launchers, one to fire up Internet Explorer and one to launch my
Netflix account in IE Kiosk mode.

When started from the Add-On, Advanced Launcher submenu, they behave fine. The apps launch and when
closed they return to the submenu.

However when added to favorites and added to the Main Menu as buttons, they still launch correctly but
when closed they stall on a screen with the following below a clapboard image with "Aeon" on it:

Publisher: Unavailable
Platform: Unavailable
Premiered: Unavailable
Genre: Unavailable

at this point pressing ESC closes the above and returns to the Main Menu correctly.

I've checked the entries in guisettings and they seem fine (have the "return" at the end, etc.). I've
also searched this thread and haven't so far found a similar question. The launchers and favorites have
been blown away and recreated several times but always exhibit this behavior.

Hopefully you guys can point out what I've overlooked.

That's a MQ3 skin problem. Ask MQ3 devellopers to fix the problem.

Version 1.10.13 : This new minor version of Advanced Launcher fix the date display under Frodo. Ffom now to display a date into a skin :
  • Lisitem.date is not anymore active for program section with Frodo version of XBMC. So this entry have been removed from Advanced Launcher.
  • Lisitem.premiered still active for program section with Frodo but do not return the date into a correct format (but works correctly with Eden). So this entry still availiable from Advanced Launcher but it is recommended to only use it for Eden skins.
  • Lisitem.year is now active for program section with Frodo version of XBMC. So this entry is now supported by Advanced Launcher and is the recommenced entry to use to display date (under year format) for Frodo skins.
This version of Advanced Launcher also add german add-on descriptions.

Changelog :
  • Listitem.date has been replaced by Listitem.year.
  • Add german add-on description (thanks to mbroemme).
To get this new version of Advanced Launcher do not forget to install first the new version of the Angelscry's Repository add-on (1.2.2) on your XBMC system : http://www.gwenael.org/Repository/reposi...-1.2.2.zip
I feel like this is a stupid question (I know everyone loves these)... but since I've got everything running just right I want to check before screwing anything up! And I apologize, because I'm sure I've seen an answer to my question before, but I can't find it now! Hopefully someone has a quick answer...

I've followed the YouTube tutorial on setting up a duplicate Advanced Launcher install (Angelscry, in addition to a GREAT plugin you've gone above and beyond with the helpful YouTube videos!). I've got one Advanced Launcher launching into WMC's Netflix addon (works great!). I've got the duplicate Advanced Launcher installation set up for launching my games.

Since installing the repository the first/original installation has updated to the current AL version... but how do I update the duplicate entry?? Is it as simple as copying the original "plugin.program.advanced.launcher" folder onto the duplicate install and then tweaking the .xml files again? Does this make sense?

Yes that's it! I haven't found any more simple way to proceed. Only the original installation of Advanced Launcher will be updated automatically. For the other ones you have to do the update manually and modify the xml file again.

Thanks for the quick reply as well as the laucher. I'll give the MQ3 forum a shot.

I suppose that you have created a file launcher. After the launcher creation have you perform a "Scan for New Items" to add your roms to your launchers items list?

You may want to try to rollback to 1.10.12. Yesterday after the repository updated my machine to 1.10.13 I experienced a similar problem trying to access my launchers. I decided to try a rollback to 1.10.12 and the problem went away. I tried to reproduce the problem by upgrading to 1.10.13, but it was then shown as (blacklisted) in the rollback list although I don't know where the blacklist status gets set. At the moment I'm running 1.10.12 and not expriencing the problem.

It's possible that this might be tied to the skin (Aeon MQ3) in my case as the problem symptom appears the same as when I try to start a launcher as a favorite (previous post). Angelscry feels this was a skin problem, so I posted in that forum but haven't yet gotten any feedback there.

Win 7 64b
XBMC Eden (current download)
Angelscry repository 1.2.2
Advanced Launcher 1.10.12
Aeon MQ3

Thank you davelr and zarzus for the feedback. I was able to reproduce the problem and seen what is going wrong. Seems that Eden generate this error with the new listitem.year entry bring by Frodo. I have added this new entry support for skin running under Frodo with the version 1.10.13 of Advanced Launcher. but I have never though that it will have in impact on Eden version.

I will try to release a fix as soon as possible... if I found as way to fix it... because it is a little tricky. If not version 1.10.12 of Advanced Launcher will be the last release compatible with Eden... but I will try to avoid this.
Version 1.10.14 : This new version of Advanced Launcher fix a bug bring by version 1.10.13 (sorry) that was only occuring under EDEN version of XBMC.

Changelog :
  • Fix listitem.year incompatibility with Eden.
