I was just suggesting you to try to fix your audio settings instead or trying to kill/restart XBMC. But it seems that you are not intretested into fixing things. So... in this case, your script is wrong. Gens do not start, and you only see XBMC be killed and restarted. Try this :

There is no space after "-" into Gens command line. Also if your rom paths contain white spaces I strongly suggest you to put the $1 parameter between double quotes.
If it still not working, post also your launcher.xml file to see if you correctly start your .sh script.
