I'm using an Ubuntu 12.10 minimal installation. But it is precisely because your are using XBMC into standalone mode and not using a desktop/windows manager that you have all these problems.
That makes sense now why the script won't work. What do I have to do to make it work without slowing the system with a desktop and other things I don't necessarily need?
Also can this be the cause of the no sound problem too ?
First, you need to change the way XBMC is started on your systeme. XBMC must be started somewhere on your system (into .xinitrc or .xsession file) like this :
Code:
...
xbmc --standalone
...
Just replace this line by
Code:
...
xbmc
...
Then you will have to fix the way that your are not using a desktop/windows manager. Here are some ways to do it : http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...pid1429403
