don't want to jinx myself, but initial testing seems to show that my buffering issues have gone away. A 2 gig/2 hour standard def xvid was giving me tons of buffering the past two days is going fine right now. curious to hear if it's fixing the buffering issues that others were having that didn't seem to be related to decoding (cpu was never spiking, yet it buffered a lot even when there should have been sufficient bandwidth..the file streams to other devices just fine.)
edit: still seeing some (though reduced) buffering on a higher bitrate 720p mkv [high profile 4.1, 10.8 mbs avg bitrate, spikes up to 17 or 18]. I'm not sure if there's some still wonky bottleneck with smb shares on mac, or if it's running up against the limitations of the hardware. Watching cpu usage on the OSD it tends to hang around 80% on that file so while a bit taxing, it's not dropping frames or anything until a handful when it buffers. still..some definitely improvements on this build. thanks to everyone involved.

Still getting slight stuttering/frame drops in my 1080p Avatar x264 mkv (wired), watchable but slightly annoying.
It's in 16:9 format not sure if this is the issue as my other 1080 BD rips are widescreen and play smoothly.

I got the same error when I installed the 1-29 build via SSH and iFile. I just installed the iconpack via Cydia, and it was all good after that.
Thanks for this fantastic work! The rotation bug on the iPad had been really uh ... bugging me. Haven't tried this build yet, but will shortly.

The newest .deb worked fine for me, though I already had the iconpack installed this time.
