Yup, thats pretty much how I feel too. Since we're in a huge flux right now (tons of stuff getting merged in) i'm just not even bothering about mysql stuff until it calms down a little more.
Upgrading to 4.3.x won't fix this issue, that really only helps 'core' problems, like drivers, what we would normally refer to as 'operating system' problems, not 'applications' issues, what XBMC is, naturally.
