Hi All,
I have been messing around with my AppleTV2 now for days and it is driving me nuts. I had jailbroken it, installed xbmc, various plugins, etc. Everything was working fine until I stumbled across this nightly builds information. I wanted to install the build, mainly because I found some skins that seemed to only be compatible with the nightly builds.
Long story short, I had some trouble and decided to start from scratch, factory reset the apple tv, jailbreak again, etc. I believe during the process I updated the apple tv to the latest software available (not sure if this is what is driving the problem). I have since re-jailbroken the device, installed nito tv, ran update begone as mentioned on page 1 of this thread, followed the link on page 1 to ssh the various lines of text to prevent check for updates, reinstalled xbmc from nito tv.
Now I followed the steps on page 1 to ssh the nightly build to the apple tv, but when I reboot and relaunch xbmc it doesn't appear that anything has changed. I still can't change to nightly build specific skins, etc. When I go to check system info, it says the following:
operating system: Darwin 11.0.0 Darwin Kernel Version 11.0.0: Thur Feb ...
version in blue at bottom of screen: xbmc pre-11.0 git:20110711-10e09ec (compiled: Jul 11 2011)
Does this mean the nightly build install did not go through? Could anyone suggest a solution? I've tried factoring resetting and going through all of the steps a 2nd time now and again same problem. Even worse, when I go to navigate to the icefilms plugin and play video, they immediately crash after 1 second of play time.
Based on the research I've done, it seems the video crashing is driven by the latest apple update, but the nightly build is supposed to help resolve that problem if I've read correctly. If that is the case, could someone please suggest what possibly is preventing the nightly build install to go through on my apple tv? Again, seems like everything is fine when I am following the steps on page 1 using ssh.
Sorry for the long post.
Thomas
