First off, thanks for the great work on the ATV2 XBMC build !
The good news : commit 84082ccdc633843b585 on 17-Jul-2011 fixes the bug where a video file would not be played (shows black screen) when using picture slideshow mode.
The bad news : The fix is not 100% as with the 18-Jul-2011 build the ATV2 crashes when pressing back when a MOV video is playing in picture slideshow mode.

Install method : dpkg
Settings :
Clean Preference/XBMC Dir with the following modifications :
+ System -> Pictures -> Automatically Generate Thumbnails : OFF
+ System -> Pictures -> Show Video Files in Listing : ON
+ System -> Video -> File Lists -> Extract Thumbnails and video information : OFF
+ Configured a FTP share
Steps to reproduce :
- Enter the Pictures Section
- Navigate to a MOV video file
- Press 'Menu', 'Start Slideshow here'
<video starts playing>
- Press 'Back' when the video is playing, the atv2 will crash

Notes :
1. Crash also happens when using a SAMBA share instead of FTP
2. Crash happens for multiple MOV files tested (from S95 Canon camera), the crashing is consistent
4. Crash not observed with an AVI that I tried !
