I run lightroom and shoot video on a Canon 7D H264 HD in a .mov wrapper and desiginated xbmc as default windows palyer for this file type. When I click on a mov xdmc comes up in skin mode, how do I make it auto play as the designated default player?

XBMC isn't designed to be a media player in the way that e.g. WinAmp is. It's intended to be a Media Centre. I don't think it's possible to use XBMC in the way you want.
