[LINUX] Stereo Sound on OPTICAL/SPDIF not working
#1
Hello all Smile

I'm using XBMC for about a year and a half now, and recently i've bought a new desktop computer, so my old HTPC went to retirement and used the parts fo my former desktop to build a new one.

So, it's a Intel Dual Core E7500, 4Gb RAM, a 16Gb SSD Harddrive, Dual Gbit connection (used in bondig) a Nvidia G210 Graphical card and a Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio with Optical Out connected to a Dennon AV AMP. Using Gentoo GNU/Linux.

Everything wis working correctly, expect for Stereo Sound... I have DTS, DTS2, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital II movies working flawless... but no Stereo Sound... on movies, or on Music..

My Current Sound Settings:

Audio Output: Optical/Coax
Speaker Configuration: 5.1
Boost volume level on downmix: ACTIVE
Dolby Digital: ACTIVE
DTS: ACTIVE
Audio Output Device: HDA Creative Defaults
Passthrough output device HDA Creative iec958

Any help would be appreciated... i'm kinda lost Sad

I have the same problem.
A HP DV2017ea with XBMC live.

Sound on optical worked for two weeks after clean install, but now it only works on analog.

AC3 works through SPDIF, and it is not muted (have tried everything in alsamixer), but when i try to play music or mp3 audio movies its completely quiet. I can see the optical output is on (red light).

Thanks for any suggestions
