Ok so with kodi-20160122-0dab7a7 it's largely the same. I think you're getting close as the video / audio quality appeared to be 99% on the live info but it is worse than last build.

DTS-HD MA - nada = black screen no audio
TrueHD - nada
DTS - nada
AC3 - nada

(I'm using PleXBMC just FYI)

Update for today:

I have most of the stuff "working" in the sense of: I like what is happening. There is another issue I need to look.

When copying the intermediate buffer the sink consumes it, but afterwards AudioTrack does not like to continue - it just stays at its first position. We will see.

Btw. those new version only change something for Android6 or Shield as they use this new way of passthrough - the firetv and so on should work as good as before.

With 20160123-b8d0a7c after I run a True HD test clip, The Kodi Log Uploader refuses to upload the log. Before running the test clip, it uploads just fine. Tried mulitple times, restarting both Kodi and the Shield.

@fritsch: Something specific you want me to test out, I'm available all day, so let me know.

I managed to get one log file (DTS-HD MA) via the Kodi Log Uploader but when I tried TrueHD, the video played (loads of jitter and frame drops / extra frames, no audio) but the uploader stopped working. I'll wait until xbmclogs is back up.

One thing I did not realise was adjust refresh rate was set to off in my previous logs when I always set it to stop / start / always. Must've been reset the first time I installed V17 and I forgot to check. I've enabled it now and will check in future.

I did try and navigate to the log folder but I couldn't get it to show up. Sad

Managed to get a few more logs of DTS / AC3 on kodi-20160123-9d13c04. DTS seemed perfectly fine and sync. For AC3: One blip of audio that appeared to be in sync but it was only there for half a second or so, the rest my reciever was going crazy switching between Decoder Off / PCM.

TrueHD - once again won't upload, video quality drops, no audio
DTS - DTS dropping in and out (last build was near perfect with this)

Saw you posted a new build earlier (kodi-20160123-f2a2596). I had a absolute nightmare trying to get this log. Kodi Log Uploader was completely broken and every file manager on Android is total crap. I played every format DTS-HD MA, TrueHD, AC3 and DTS in one log just so I didn't have to copy and paste the org.xbmc.kodi folder 4 times for each file type. Sorry about the massive log, put it on my dropbox as the file was too large for pastebin.

DTS-HD MA - Picture (jittered a bit), no sound at all
TrueHD - same
DTS - skipping video, no sound
AC3 - looping video, no sound

Tested on kodi-20160123-2dbff01

DTS- HD MA - video and audio in sync, it took a second or so to come through
TrueHD - video no audio at first, then app crash, repeatable.
DTS - audio a touch ahead of video
AC3 - intially out of sync, caught up later
