CBC Corontation St stopped working last Friday although new episodes appear at the CBC site http://watch.cbc.ca/coronation-street/al...6bd55b7235. It seems that CBC may be adopting a new way of watching online shows http://www.cbc.ca/player/play/2689259365 . Is this affecting Kodi?

Yep, they are adopting a new system. Newest flash is running crappy on my machines too.
Oh and thanks for such a great addon.

I was experiencing this same issue, so I followed the instructions to uninstall, and then reinstall from the kodi repository.
Unfortunately I cannot seem to find it there, I am sure that I am doing something wrong, but dont know what. I have an Mbox running Kodi.
Not real tech savvy with this stuff.
Thanks in advance for the help...

Hiya, Learningit. Haven't tried the 'New Brunswick first' news broadcast in some, so I thought I'd give it a shot this morning, but wouldn't load. Just thought I'd mention it.

I had a pretty thorough look at what it takes to switch the add-on over to watch.cbc.ca today.
I most likely will not be putting in the effort for this.
The entire site is geo-locked, which isn't really an issue. CBC has started using a framework which makes navigation much easier, but playing videos presents some issues. At a glance, it looks like DRM has been applied to the videos, which again isn't really a problem as they are using a simple IV key which normally the player in Kodi can handle but there are a couple of twists which make it a PITA with how cookies are being messed with. I was able to get things to play OK, but I had to mess with the code in Kodi core to make it work. I have a couple of other add-ons which require extended cookie handling which I haven't released because they require similar changes.
So I most likely will pass on further development. The CBC add-on really should be maintained by someone located in Canada.

Funny enough I checked out some Nature of Things vids and they worked just fine. It was only the live NB newsfeed I had the problem with.
Man, if you're leaving this I hope someone even half as competent picks up the shovel. Thanks for your work, learningit.

Coronation Street is the one that I cannot get to work, is there a work around for us?
I would love to help but I can barely operate the thing in the first place
Thanks for all your help.

Thanks to learningit for all the work he has put into this addon. Hopefully someone will pick it up where he left off. I will miss Coronation St on Kodi but I guess I can watch it at the CBC site

Greetings,
I understand your decision and wish to thank you for all of your efforts.
Have you removed or disabled the addon completely (and your repo as well)?

Thanks.

Glad we had this for the time it was available, a nightly staple for me.. even now the National is greatly appreciated. No sour grapes for the great add-on and support, I'm crossing my fingers for some continuation of support.

Thanks.
That repo was a test repo and is no longer in use.
The latest version is in the kodi.org repo, as are all my addons.

The www.cbc.ca/player/ is still available, but the CBC Kodi add-on no longer works. In my kodi error log it shows the error as:
ERROR: XFILE::CDirectory::GetDirectory - Error getting plugin://plugin.video.cbc/
I did notice in the addon.xml file the source is defined as: <source>https://github.com/learningit/plugin.video.cbc</source>
However, that url is no longer valid.
learningit -> is this something that could easily be fixed, at least as long as the old cbc player is still available?
Thanks much for your help. this is an awesome add-on.

The CBC player at cbc.ca/player is now just a link to the watch.cbc.ca player. It doesn't include the program list that the addon is looking for. You'll find that if you change the addon source to cbc.ca/player/kids or /sports or /news in scraper.py, the addon will work again, just not for the normal CBC shows list.
