Is there a way to run this add-on manually. Such as to do a mass download for all media in the XBMC library? The add-on downloads all the correct information when I am playing an album

Unfortunately, no. AS is designed to be a "just in time" downloader when you're playing stuff. I think someone asked this a few pages back. Just after I answered someone posted a link to an addon that will do that.

Is there a way to make it only look at the Album Artist field when searching. My artist field includes feat artist on there which in turn bring up no images in the slideshow. When its just one artist in the artist field it pulls the right extrafanart

AS asks Kodi for the artist of the playing song, so unfortunately I don't have any control over what gets returned. Kodi treats artists separated by " / " (that's space slash space) as multiple artists by default. I think you can change that using advancedsettings.xml, but I've not tried it myself. AS does support the "iTunes" featured artist method where the featured artist is in the title of the song, like: My cool song (feat. Another Artist).

Hello!
I just noticed something : since I installed CU LRC Lyrics , the artist slideshow doesn't work anymore. is this normal? Are others experiencing this too?
Edit : I just disabled the CU LRC Lyrics plugin and no change. My artist slideshow does not seem to start anymore! One picture appear as the full screen background, but then the slideshow with several picture does not start...
This is annoying. What's the matter? How can I fix it?

Hi. I run into a problem with artist slideshow. When music is played in full screen, the fanart image of the first song is displayed as supposed but when next track begins, an artist slideshow error occurs and instead of artist fanart there's just black background.

I don't know what might be the reason. I haven't changed anything since I last time I used artist slideshow couple of days ago. Now for some reason it just broke. Here's debug log: http://pastebin.com/LwPaL4Jt

If I recall, this has happened at least once before. But I don't remember what I did to fix it back then. I think it was just reboot. But this time boot didn't solve the problem.

Could you try 1.8.3~beta1? This fixes some issues with files on remote shares (and it looks like that's what you have). You can either get it from my github repo at:

In fact you can but need lots of work. I tried it and works fine but as i say....lot of works.
It consists to use the overiding scheme of the addon as it is said on the wiki. If needed, i can make a screen of the structure.
You will need to make few nfo manually per artist, plus saving all picture on local. For only one artist, i needed almost 6 full hours.
So bad that the addon cannot saves itself all the informations.

Sorry to bother you again but artist slideshow addon is giving me a hard time again. It's the same issue than last time. During first song images are shown right but as the second song starts addon gives an error. Here's debug log:

I really and truly hate UTF8 encoding. I'd like you to find the default.py for Artist Slideshow and change line 158 to read:

the change here is the utf-8 decoding on old_file. Hopefully that'll do it. If it does, I'll push out a patch later this week.

Hi,

because I'm about to reorganize / retag all of my music I try to find the "best" way to use Artist Slideshow for me

1. Multiple Artists: What would be the best way to show images for multiple artists under one song?
Is it using the common artist field such as "Artist X feat. Artist Y" or should I put the "feat." in the song title e.g. "Title (feat. Artist Y)"?

2. Because I don't want any extrafanart images within my local music folder, would it be correct to set the priority to "remote first" to just have the downloaded images for the specific artists in the cache folder? In addition, would Artist Slideshow put those cached images in my local folders when there is an extrafanart folder?

3. The next time I play a song for which Artist Slideshow has already cached some images, will it reuse the same images or will it redownload them?

Good to know. I'll push a new beta version to my repo channel today. I just submitted an update to the Kodi repo, so I'll wait a bit before doing that one.
