That is probably because denon 4100 does not support DTS:X - it was added to the 4200 Smile

Something is not right here..
While i watching/testing some Movies in Passthrough i notice that the volume/sound is much louder than the usual.
My listening habits for movies in the OPPO103D + Anthem with HD Audio is -20, but while testing the 29.dec version i had to drop the volume in receiver to -28.

At the moment i don't have the Rew + Microphone to test in more scientific manner, but i put the same music FLAC Playing in 2 ch in Oppo103D and also the same music in Kodi/Shield and use the Iphone + with Audio control SPL meter APP at level -20

The results has i suspect gave me Max SPL of 82.3db for Oppo 103 and 92.1db for the Nvidia Shield this doesnt make sense to hear a 10db louder in the Shield because they both are in Passthrough.

ps: Music Volume adjustment are OFF and volume are set to 100 in Oppo and Shield.

Quick test on Philips 8601 UHD android TV, software version QM151E.0.5.173.0
- AC3 is OK
- EAC3 is OK
- DTS is NOK (white noise)

When you play a movie, the volume jumps to 100%.
This is okay for PT devices like the shield, but annoying on MediaTek Android TV that are able to render themselves.
It would be great if the volume reset (to 100%) was optional.

Another bug: the first AC3 movie plays fine, but when I start another AC3 movie while the first one is still playing, it fails to lock and there is no sound anymore.

Here is the log: http://pastebin.com/eHVTQqx1 of the bug where the sound gets lost.
Hello,

My name is Emile and did a lot of reading on this subject.

Since my upgrade to a Beelink I68G with Android 5.1.1. I have problems with audio passthrough.
I tried all versions from 14.1 up to now but no result.

My Pioneer VSX-817 connected through spdif optical, switches DTS or DD on/off in intervals of 2 sec on and 1 sec off when playing a .mkv file (through my network)

When i saw this post i installed Kodi 16.0-beta5 Git:2015-12-29-0fee423 and hoped it was finally solved.
But it is not.....

http://xbmclogs.com/pqvunm3ni for the log. Maybe it helps.

Note:
1. Archos player 9.3.21 works flawless with passthrough so no hardware problem...
2. My old Mbox MXIII works fine with passthrough up untill Kodi 14.2. (I know now...)

If my reply should not be in this thread, then i am sorry.Angel

I did testing for the mentioned version of Kodi and it does not work for my hardware on DTS and DD.
@RCLampie: This test build is solely to test a fix for HD audio. If normal DTS, DD do not work with the normal build they will not work with this either.
AFAIK: Kodi uses the standard Android Api to pass through audio. If your devices manufacturer did not implement it, pass through will not work with Kodi.

We never used official Android API until this test build

It doesn't help as A. Koying left and isn't working on these builds anymore B. you didn't provide any logs.

If you want to help, use the latest test build found here:

http://mirrors.kodi.tv/test-builds/android/x86/

and post logs of that.

Except NO, that link is for x86 builds and the SATV is ARM.

May i ask where i can find the latest build to test ?

Does it make sense to test the Krypton Build already ? I am running the Krypton Build on my Nuc and it is quite stable i have to admit. Is there a Krypton Build even available with passthrough ?

Thanks

In the link I just posted above, it's the kodi-20160110-d071148-adddroidPT-armeabi-v7a.apk build.

No, the Krypton builds are still in pre-alpha and unless you want to test new features it's not recommend as a "daily driver"
