Force XBMC to grab mouse cursor
#1
Hey guys,
First post here, please be gentle Smile. In order to avoid the classical XY problem, I'll post my setup, and exactly what I want to achieve.

Hardware setup:
Desktop
Dual screens (1 = monitor, 2 = TV)
MCE remote + receiver

Software setup:
Latest XBMC, set to "windowed" full screen mode
UltraMon shortcut for XBMC (enable display 2, launch XBMC maximized on display 2)
LM Remote Keymap (assign the above shortcut to the green MCE remote button)

Problem:
Even though the XBMC window takes focus on launch (remote arrows, "ok", "back" work well), as soon as I press the "more (i)" button, focus is lost and the mouse right-clicks on display 1. Is there any way to get this working properly? Forcing XBMC to move the mouse cursor to display 2 would do the trick, but I haven't found any indication of that being doable. Any other more elegant solution would do as well.

Thanks Smile.

You have a VRC-1100 remote and I claim my £5.

The VRC-1100 (see http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Rem...s#VRC-1100) helpfully sends a right mouse click when you press the i button. It isn't configurable, so you can't change the button behaviour. There isn't any easy solution other than changing your remote.

If you run XBMC and an instance is already running, the focus will be set back to the running instance. You may find that just pressing the green button again is all you need to do.

Nope, I have the 1039 actually (http://www.gizmodo.com/assets/resources/...remote.gif).

Pressing green does in fact restore focus... until I press "more" again Sad

Hmm, that's (obviously) a proper Microsoft remote and it will be using the eHome driver. What, if anything, have you done to make the remote work with XBMC? The simplest solution would be to use the MCERemote add-on to remap the buttons on the remote. That way the i button can be configured to send an i keypress rather than a right click and the problem will disappear.
